The Word Became Flesh

John 1:1-18

1
Chapter 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came to be through him, and without him not even one thing came to be. That which has come to be 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of humanity. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. 6 A man came who was sent from God. His name was John. 7 He came for testimony, so that he might testify about the light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the Light, but came in order that he might testify concerning the Light. 9 He was the true light that enlightens every human coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world came into being through him, and the world did not know him. 11 He came to the things that were his own, and his own did not receive him. 12 To all who received him, he gave them authority to become children of God, to those who believe in his name, 13 who were not born from bloods nor from the will of flesh nor from the will of man, but from God. 14 And the Word became flesh and tabernacled among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testifies about him and has cried out, saying, "This is the one I said, 'The one coming after me has become before me, because he was first of me.'" 16 because out of his fullness we all received, and grace in place of grace. 17 because the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, he has made him known.
